Seth Godin   gives advice to real estate agents: Quit Now! Some of you got in for the wrong reasons or the easy money. That’s done. Go get another job.  As Seth states, “you’ll be glad to know that the competition for attention just got smaller. The agents who built their business on low interest rates, easy money and speculation (the order takers) have left the building.”

For those that are serious about their career as an agent: There’s a Plan B. Seth’s take on Plan B is certainly worth the read. My take, maybe not so much. Become the Expert in your world. Define your world – whatever Niche that is – and become the Best of Breed, the leading expert, in that field / niche / sector / segment.

That means you have to have a marketing plan that you Execute. Which means more work. It also means long term results though.

This same advice can go to telecom agents as well as stock brokers and other money guys. The party’s over. Sales skills as well as Marketing execution will be required in almost every industry going forward. If you don’t want to work that hard, get out now and do something else. Sales Training and Coaching will give you a leg up on the competition. It will also give you feedback on ways to improve. Marketing will require a plan and scheduled time to execute the plan.
